Al-Kawthar International (“Al-Kawthar,” “we”) is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN 83-2356739). This policy explains what information we collect when you visit this website, give a gift, or contact us, and how we use and protect it.
Information we collect
- When you give: your name, email address, the amount and frequency of your gift, the fund you choose, and whether you cover the processing fee. Phone number and billing details only if you provide them.
- Payment details: your card or bank details are entered into a secure form provided by Stripe and go directly to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe may offer to save your payment details with Link, which is governed by Stripe’s privacy policy.
- When you sign up for updates: your email address and, if you give it, your name.
- When you contact us: whatever you choose to share, such as your name, email, phone number and message.
- Automatically: like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the site running and secure. Stripe may set cookies on the donation page to prevent fraud. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this website. Our update emails may tell us whether they were opened and which links were clicked, to help us improve them.
How we use it
- To process your gift and send your receipt, including the information you need for tax purposes.
- To manage recurring gifts you set up, and to let you know if a payment fails.
- To send updates about our work, if you asked for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To answer your questions and messages.
- To keep the records that the law requires of a charity, and to prevent fraud.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we never share donor lists with other organizations. We share information only with service providers that help us run our giving, and only as much as they need:
- Junipers, the donation management platform we use to process gifts, keep donor records, send receipts and receive messages you send us, on our behalf.
- Stripe, which processes card and bank payments.
- Our website host, which serves this site.
Junipers in turn uses its own service providers, including cloud hosting, email delivery and AI tools our staff use, under the same limits.
These providers may use your information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, such as to answer a lawful request from authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep records of gifts for as long as we need them for tax and accounting purposes, which is generally seven years. We keep your email on our update list until you unsubscribe.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from updates at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. We will honor your request unless the law requires us to keep a record, such as of a gift.
- Your browser may send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because we do not track you across other websites, our site works the same either way.
Security
This site uses encryption (HTTPS) for everything you send us, and payments are handled by Stripe, which is certified to the highest level of the payment card industry standard (PCI DSS Level 1). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
